The International Antiques Fair is coming to town! From May 26 to 30th, more than 70 international antique dealers will be offering Oriental and Western antiques for sale at the Hong Kong Convention Center.  In preparation for this major event, Oi Ling Chiang has offered to host a workshop for our members on Antique Chinese furniture and how it is authenticated.

For more than 20 years, Oi Ling Chiang together with 2 of her siblings, have operated an antiques business in Hong Kong that includes a well-known antiques gallery, warehouse showroom and restoration workshop. Oi Ling personally sources each antique piece for her galleries, which cater to museum curators and private collectors alike.

Oi Ling is known for her willingness to share her knowledge and passion for Chinese antiques. Having been called on for advice by the likes of Christie’s, Sotheby’s, and various museum curators and private collectors, Oi Ling has built an outstanding reputation over many years. She has served on vetting committees for prestigious Asian antiques exhibitions around the world, is a feature contributor on Chinese antiques, and enjoys speaking about her passion to both visitors to the galleries and select groups.

This workshop will focus on Antique Chinese Wooden Furniture, how it is classified and dated, and the standards used to determine value.  Oi Ling will bring samples pieces from her warehouse to illustrate the talk.  Come learn more about these beautiful pieces of furniture.

After the workshop there will be an optional lunch at Sohofama, a restaurant that specializes in using locally sourced organic ingredients to create modern Chinese cuisine. Sohofama is located in the PMQ, a short walk from the Chinese Cultural Center.

Hope you can join us on May 11th.
