Christie's Hong Kong has kindly invited members of the Friends of the Art Museum to attend a special lecture on the art collection of Claude Monet.
Sylvie Patin, Senior Honorary Curator of Musee d’Orsay, Paris and Adrien Meyer Christie’s Co-Chairman, Impressionist & Modern Art, will explore Giverny , Claude Monet’s beautiful home and universe he built, where he spent over half of his life creating his greatest achievements.
This talk will touch upon the collection, titled Dear Monsieur Monet, to be sold in Hong Kong on November 26, which presents an intimate and family driven insight into one of art history’s most beloved artists. Hidden from the rest of the world, these works owned by Claude Monet had only been seen in catalogue reproductions. They reveal both Monet the collector, and Monet the painter.
The collection comprises of works by Boudin, Signac, Manet, Blanche-Hoschede, Butler, Ritman but also Japanese prints, which the artist was such an avid collector of.
Tickets are available through our Member Benefits programme; you must be a current Member or Young Friend to register. Registration closes on Thursday 23 November.
