India by the Bay 2018 (IBB) is coming to town this February. This one week long festival showcases India’s rich cultural and ethnic diversity.  One of the highlights of the festival is an Art Exhibit of Gond tribal painting by Bhajju Shyam.  Gond tribal art is rich in meaning and provides a visual expression for the oral culture, rituals and daily life of the Gond people.   Traditionally this distinctive art style was used to decorate their homes.  More recently Gond paintings have been produced on paper and canvas so that the art form can reach a wider public.

Bhajju Shyam is from the tribal village of Patangarh in Central India. His talent and drive have propelled Gond Art from the village to the International art market. Edward Wilkinson, Executive Director of Bonhams Asia, will host this discussion with Bhajju Shyam about his art.  Examples of his work will be on display in the Bonhams gallery.

IBB is hosting other exciting events that highlight Indian arts and culture. For more details, please visit their web site at http://indiabythebay.com/

Deadline for Registration for this event is Friday February 1st
