Join us for a visit to f11 and f22, a museum and gallery devoted to photography in Hong Kong.
F11, located in a historic shop house, will provide us with a guided tour of "Alexander Rodchenko: Everything - Experiment". The building where the museum is located is a rare example of Art Deco architecture and is a surving example of the pre-war development in Happy Valley. Alexander Rodchenko was one of the most vibrant and progressive artists to emerge from Russia in the 20th century. A "Renaissance Man" in the true sense of the term, Rodchenko was able to use painting, graphic design, adversiting and photography to develop a new and revolutionary vision for his era.
From there we will take the tram to the f22 gallery to view a new exhibit entitled "Here/Not Here", featuring Hong Kong photographer Yan Kallen and French photographer Michel Eisenlohr who collaborated, over a period of 12 months, to develop new works expressing their personal vision of Hong Kong's architectural landscape. The collaboration between these two photographers, one an outsider and the other a native of Hong Kong, has resulted in a series of photographs that complement and confront each other, questioning the relationship a photographer has with the city as an object of study.
