Come join us as we visit two galleries that specialize in Japanese art.

Our first stop will be Waka Artisans located in the PMQ. This gallery, opened in 2012 by Takako Kosciuszko, specializes Japanese Ceramics.  On October 20th they will be holding a special exhibit of the ceramics of Koichi Iinuma.  Koichi is best known for his delicate style that uses flashes of gold and silver combined with bright colours to create modern and elegant works.  His latest works have a very unique style inspired by Lucy Rie and other contemporary artits. Koichi will be at the gallery to discuss his latest works and the source of his inspiration.

Our second stop is Whitestone Gallery on Hollywood Road. Whitestone is a Japanese gallery with branches in Tokyo, Karuizawa, Taipei and Hong Kong focused on Japanese Gutai artists.  Gutai Art was the first radical post war artistic group producing contemporary art work in Japan.  The current exhibition includes works from several Gutai artists, Ji Young Park, the Gallery Manger, will be on hand to discuss the works on display.

The tour will end with an optional Sake Tasting experince paired with Asian Fusion cusine at Sake Central.  Sake Central opened in Setpmber of this year to provide a venue to celbrate Japanese Culture in Hong Kong.  The estiamted cost of the lunch and Sake tasting is 300 HKD per person.  Please let us know if you will be joining us for lunch.
